November Afternoon Tea 1: Raisin Scones and Peach Tart

Of so many friends and colleagues who join me for English Afternoon Tea, only one person who has a real palate for scones. As you know, being a typical English food, scone has never gained any popularity among the Chinese community. One has either not heard of scones at all or not showing any interest in something which has a texture next to stones. Whenever this very special comrade of mine requests for scones for afternoon tea, gladly I will bake some for the occasion as I don't usually bake scones since no one in the family knows how to appreciate this delicacy.
A simple tea set for 2.
Raisin Scones and Peach Tart

The buttery scones have a contrasting texture - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The peach tart looked slightly under-baked because I forgot to brush some glazing on top of the pastry before pushing it into the oven.
How do you find the setting of the table?
Take a closer look at a heavenly-tasted food which the British can proudly call their own.
Have these products changed your perception of scones?
P.S. Wendy, thanks for being my special guest! I hope you enjoyed the scones as well as the afternoon tea.

  1. The last time I saw scones like that I was having afternoon tea at The Ritz with my mother. I don't know what I would do if I moved somewhere where I couldn't get English confectionaries. I would learn to bake but after my last couple attempts I'm not allowed in the kitchen anymore.
