Bake your own biscotti

The Italian word "biscotto" means "biscuit". When you break the word into two syllables, they are literally translated as "baking twice". Baking the biscuit twice requires lots of care and patience but it guarantees a crisp texture from its unique shape. The baking method is not too complicated as you think. All you need to do is to shape the dough into a log, bake the entire dough in the oven till the dough hardens but not cooked. Remove the dough from the oven and slice it diagonally. Arrange the biscuit slices neatly on a baking tray and return the biscuit to the oven to continue baking till it is completely cooked. Despite being time consuming and tedious, biscotti remains the most popular snack in some typical Italian cafes. Of course, one can always pay to enjoy some equally good bakery-made biscotti but the satisfaction one would get from making it yourself simply overweighs the store-bought biscotti. To bake or not to bake, that's the question.
