Bangkok 2012: The Grand Palace พระบรมมหาราชวัง

The Grand Palace, พระบรมมหาราชวัง (Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang), symbolises the seat of power and spiritual heart of the Thai kingdom, has been the official residence of the Kings of Thailand since 2 centuries ago. Grand Palace was not only the home of the King and his court, but also the entire administrative seat of government. Around the turn of the 20th century, Thai Kings stopped living in the palace.

The Phra Maha Montien (พระมหามณเฑียร) buildings group is located roughly at the center of the Middle Court.

Open hours : 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Admission Fee : 400 Baht.

The fee includes admission to Wat Phra Kaeo, The Royal Thai Decorations and Coins Pavilion inside the complex and toVimanmek Teak Mansion on Ratchawithi Road. (Tickets to Vimanmek Mansion can be used within 7 days after purchase)

NOTE: There is a strict dress code for visiting the Grand Palace. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is Thailand's most sacred site. Visitors must be properly dressed before being allowed entry to the temple. Men must wear long pants and shirts with sleeves -- no tank tops. If you're wearing sandals or flip-flops you must wear socks (in other words, no bare feet.) Women must be similarly modestly dressed. No see-through clothes, bare shoulders, etc. If you show up at the front gate improperly dressed, there is a booth near the entry that can provide clothes to cover you up properly. You must leave your passport or credit card as security.
