This is not my first time patronising Charlie Brown Cafe. My first experience of dining at CBC was when the first CBC outlet arrived in Penang last year. The food and pictures below were taken at the newly opened KLCC outlet which has a less impressive setting and smaller dining area.

The newly renovated Jaya Jusco at One Utama has become the hippest supermarket in the Klang Valley. One can get a variety of groceries, be it imported or local, at the most reasonable price and at the same time, enjoy watching at the innovative display of products in the supermarket. Upon checking out at the cashier, you will be attracted by the bright orangey lot located next to the supermarket. Bearing the concept of Hong Kong style fast food, C.I Express is another popular meeting place for those who have a big appetite and a special palate on Cantonese food.

Kenny Rogers Roasters's Red Day

11 January 2011 was the annual Roasters Eating Day (RED) of Kenny Rogers Roasters. Those wearing red on that day at Kenny Rogers Roasters Restaurant were entitled for a free Kenny's Quarter Meal when they purchased 1 Kenny Quarter's Meal. Isn't it great? That was exactly what I thought when I saw the ad so I invited a colleague to join me for lunch at KRR. We later found out that we were only allowed to choose the sauce and muffin flavour while the 3 side dishes were fixed by the restaurant.

Kenny Rogers Quarter Meal @ RM16.50
Chicken drumstick and thigh in original sauce and served along with 3 side dishes (mashed potato, coleslaw and baked beans)

The free quarter meal we got was chicken wing and breast smoked barbecue sauce, served along with the same side dishes.

Each set comes with a free muffin. There are 4 flavours to choose from so we opted for the less sweet flavours: orange flavour and original flavour.

Americano @ RM6.50

Cappuccino @ RM7.50

There goes our Buy 1 and Get 1 free Kenny Rogers Quarter meal sets.

Melting here, melting there...

Everything is melting now, the outdoor temperature rises sharply above the optimum. However, will the melting process occur when one stays in an air-conditioned cafe? The answer is undoubtedly yes... and you would surely enjoy seeing things melt... here and there...

Affogato

Behold the moments of beauty ... espresso is there.

Melting moments...

Grilled Chicken with Mushroom Sauce and served with buttered rice @ RM9.90

Green Tea Cream Cake @ RM4.70

Indulge in indulgent food at Indulgence Ipoh

Recognised as a pioneer amongst fine dining restaurants in Ipoh, Indulgence Restaurant and Living offers the best in world cuisine ranging from European Continental to Asian and local. While you are enjoying your fine food in an exquisitely decorated interior, the impeccable service of the well-trained staff makes your entire dining experience a truly pleasant and enjoyable one.

Indulgence Restaurant & Living

Appetiser:
Soft bread served with butter
The complimentary fresh bread with a crispy crust was very warm and soft in the inside.

Appetiser:
Kumamoto Oyster from US @ RM23.80 for 2 pieces
The plump oyster which was very juicy and succulent, possessed a creamy texture and a natural sweetest of shellfish. The addition of tabasco sauce and lemon juice further enhanced the flavour of the oyster, giving a very long-lasting aftertaste which lingers around your mouth.

I must admit that this is the best oyster I've ever had...

Main Course:
Fat Momma @ RM32.00
This poultry dish is served with 2 skewers of mango and sweet potato

Extra small-sized chicken marinated with concentrated tomato puree and baked in the oven.

Dessert:
Creme Brulee @ RM12.00
Sugar was sprinkled onto the custard and caramelised with a butane torch

Smooth and creamy custard topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel

Drinks:
Double Espresso @ RM12.00
The espresso was made using one of the world's finest ground coffee - Bristot.
Too bad it was served wrongly in a coffee cup instead of the standard espresso cup. This had somehow affected the layer of crema formed thus causing a greater deviation in the taste of coffee.
With a service charge and government tax of 5% and 6% respectively, the total bill came up to RM88.60. Worth spending an astronomical price on all the above? My answer is definitely YES!

Set Lunch @ Citrus Wine and Dine

Ever since the establishment of a few Euro Deli restaurants in Ipoh (Macoy, The Limestone, Berline Bier etc.), the local seems to have forgotten about Citrus Wine and Dine, the pioneer restaurant serving European fine dining cuisine in Ipoh. Still standing proud as one, Citrus never gives in to the fast food culture in spite of the strong competition around. What you get is quality food which is prepared with passion and patience, while upholding to its principle of serving only the best to the diners.

Citrus Wine and Dine - said to be the first fine dining concept restaurant in Ipoh.

Saturday Set Lunch

Cream of Broccoli

Main Course:
Grilled Coriander Chicken with Dill Cucumber and Sauteed Vegetables

The chicken thigh was marinated with lots of coriander / herbs and grilled on charcoal fire to lock the juiciness of the tender meat.

Dessert:
Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Sauce

Drinks: (a choice between coffee, tea or coke)
Brewed Coffee

Chili's @ Mid Valley

We continued with our food exploration at Mid Valley Megamall. Mushroomed with hundreds of eateries, we were clueless on what to eat. Split between local and western food, the choice was Daddy's. Knowing that he does not have a palate for Western food, Mummy opted for the former. Dad, however, was loving enough to ushered us to Chili's, a restaurant which Mummy had been eyeing on since our arrival at the mall.
Since when he became so romantic???

 Chili's

Soup of the day served with 2 slices of crackers.

Cheap N Nice Western food @ Thomas's

The phrase 'Cheap N Nice', may be grammatically incorrect, but the combination of the above adjectives is highly complemented by the connector 'and'. The whole idea of food is simply not delivered if a more proper conjunction is used in this context, for instance, 'but'.  This is because the diners whole-heartedly agree that there ain't any contrasting ideas between food and its price. Instead, they are better expressed when they are taken as two similar objects sharing a common trait, being good and reasonable.

Thomas Western Corner, a food stall occupying a temporary shed by the roadside, serves the most delicious western food in Taiping. If you are an out-of-towner whose sole aim is to hunt for good food in Taiping, leaving Taiping without trying Thomas's cooking would be the greatest sin in your life.
.

Mexican Grilled Chicken Fillet @ RM7.00

Well-marinated chicken fillet lightly grilled till golden brown, served with a spicy Mexican gravy.

The chicken chop comprises of  one large piece of chicken meat, 2 slices of French toast and a choice of either rice or French fries. As I don't fancy rice or French fries, I opted for the third choice of my own - 4 slices of French toast instead of 2. Fair enough, isn't it?

A cup of fresh orange juice to round off the meal. (coffee is not served here)
