Justart @ Gurney Plaza

I have waited for a long time to the arrival of Justart in the Northern region since my first visit to their pioneer outlets in Johor Bahru. Just one bite and I was instantly hooked on their products - tarts of assorted flavours. This outlet at Gurney Plaza is their third outlet after Crystal Point and Persiaran Queensbay. Well, regardless of where their stall is, as long as it's in the Northern region, I will surely make a return for some delicious treats - TARTS~~~

Snack till you drop!

How much snack can you stomach in 5 hours while walking around the mall and shopping for outfit? One usually won't bother to eat a proper meal when there is a sale in the mall cause wasting time on food is the worst practice ever for women who are competing with one another in grabbing the items on sale.

First, grab a Pretzel and fill your body with sufficient amount of carbohydrates before the battle begins.

The constant walking and bargaining may result in your body producing excessive heat and sweat so it is best to chill yourself with a cup of ice-cream to prepare for the second round.

At last, you have probably spent more than what you ought to. By now, you might have become penniless so you can make used of the remaining shillings inside your pocket for two mini chocolate lava and cheese tarts before you call it a day.

Tarte au lait @ Four Season Bakery

Inspired by the concept of Japanese bakeries, Four Season is a beautiful fusion of French and Japanese bakeries, offering bread lovers fresh breads which are both delectable and pleasant to the sight. From a distance, you will be attracted by the buttery aroma incorporated so well with the atmospheric composition, the smell of temptations is simply the most soothing sensation to wake you up to breakfast. Walking in, you will be greeted with a smile by the impressive scent of Illy coffee. You might want to stay perhaps a little longer, bathing yourself in the middle of fresh bread and coffee. So, go ahead and reward yourself with the most worth eating carbs of the day.

Tarte au lait (French milk tart) @ RM5.00 per box

The flavour of the milk custard is further enhanced by a dash of ground cinnamon.

Don't call me egg tart, I have a more beautiful name - Tarte au lait.

Our Delicious Afternoon

At the crowded Mid Valley Megamall, we could either go to a restaurant or a cafe and it would likely be the same dining experience. We might very well have chosen Delicious Café because we were walking towards Gardens and turned right upon seeing the minimalistic name of Delicious Cafe. This place was probably packed at lunch time and al fresco seating was equally hard to come by. We settled for an inside table, by an elegant glass case holding beautiful cakes and mouth-watering pastries.

From where we sat, we had a front row view of the vast selection of desserts seducing us with an overstated sense of indulgence and a strong feeling of guilt for having or not having it.

We began with Turkey Ham & Cheese Toastie that came appetizing and excellent in taste. We don’t know how the cheese melts its way between the oven hot toast and ham but this way seemed as good, if not better, to lock in the taste.

We shared two types of spaghettini, the Traditional Tomato Spaghettini and the most down-to-earth Aglio Olio Spaghettini. This has got to be one of the more authentic pasta we have had in KL.

The dessert always receives the most attention from all of us. We were seen gulping down the main course just to speed up the delivery of the Banoffee Pie, which was intolerably sweet. We kept pushing it to the others, but ended up leaving a huge chunk of toffee and banana behind.

Levain Boulangerie and Patisserie

One of the most picturesque French-style patisseries in the heart of the hustle, bustle, rush and roar Kuala Lumpur, Levain froze Mum and I in place the first time we saw it. This patisserie-cum-café is well worth a visit. Located in the middle of rows of uniquely designed bungalows, this architectural gem has retained its original décor: High ceilings with a neo-classical touch. We enjoyed our cuppa made from only the freshest beans of Lavazza and pick our choice of delicious pastries beneath the fragrance of fresh bread and butter, to a backdrop of soothing soft music as we admired the enchanting paintings on the walls. In Levain’s havens of self-indulgence, we discovered hand-made cakes baked in a special stone oven, continental breakfasts, wide-selection of sandwiches, pasta cooked with sauces to die for, the finest coffees and a charming atmosphere that appeal to all coffee and pastry lovers.

Tempting. The idea of those stone oven-baked fresh bread and pastry caught my attention, but some fine viennoiseries and perhaps a deft touch with the classic pastries have got me truly hooked. How much I wish I could work there as… the owner of the patisserie.

A 'Promise-ing' Fruit Tart

The elegance of fruit tart, derived from the exquisite flavour of buttery crust and fresh juicy fruit slices, paints your afternoon with cheerful colours, enhancing your mood along the entire tea experience. For such a beautifully crafted fruit tart, one can hardly resist the temptation with just one look. However, despite its undoubtful beauty, it fails to win the heart of the crowd as diners find its genuinity unacceptable. Apparently, crust which is delicate and near soggy is more well-liked by Malaysians, compared to the firmer pastry in continental Europe.

La Promise Bakery and Cafe

The most promising fruit tart in town @ RM2.20

Unlike the crumbly and delicate type of crust made by most bakeries, La Promise's has a harder and crunchier texture resembling those available in French Bakeries.
