Pam's Collection of Coffee Machines

This post features my special collection of coffee machines since 12 years ago. Till now, I am still keeping all my 'buddies' in good condition. We have been together for years, through thick and thin. Through the years, they have always kept me company, making the best stimulants to boost up my spirit. Rain or shine, there's hardly a word of grudge. Word by word, sheet by sheet, I would want to make a pledge, to show you how much I appreciate you, when I have been granted the chance to finally call you mine. I take thee to be my lawful coffee buddy, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse (beans), for richer or poorer (taste), in absence and in presence, to love and to cherish, to grind and to brew,  till death*** do us part...
*** Had I kicked the bucket while all of you're still in one piece, I wish someone out there would be kind enough to adopt you and love you like I did.

My New Toy - Hario Coffee Syphon TCA-3

I bought another new toy a month after buying the pump-driven semi-automatic espresso machine. This Japanese made Hario Syphon brews the most awesome smooth and aromatic coffee.

Hario Coffee Syphon TCA-3 @ RM350.00

Lower Bowl

Upper Bowl

Alcohol Burner, Windbreak and Burner Cover.

Filter

Spoon Handle and Measuring Spoon

Attach the filter to the upper glass bowl stem.

Pour almost boiling water into the lower bowl, up to the desired level on the measuring scale (120 ml water per cup) and then, light the alcohol burner.

Add a level spoonful per cup (about 10g or 0.35oz) of ground coffee into the upper bowl.

Position the upper bowl by pressing lightly, without forcing: The air expanded by the heat causes the water to rise in the upper bowl.

When the water from the lower bowl rises to the upper bowl, with the spoon handle to mix lightly. And heat for 40 to 60 seconds. Since the lower bowl will then be almost empty, take extreme care NOT to overheat.

Move the stand away from the burner and extinguish the flame by placing lid on the burner. Wait for coffee to drip naturally into the lower bowl. Do NOT move the burner without extinguishing the flame.

Remove the upper bowl by gently rocking back and forth, and place it on the stand.

You now have a perfect pot of coffee to be served straight to the cup.

The perfect syphon brew is best served with a slice of peanut butter layered cake and butter egg tart.

My New Toy - DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Machine

I bought a new toy recently - a pump-driven semi-automatic espresso machine. I can finally enjoy gourmet espresso any time I like. The DeLonghi EC155 is an excellent budget machine found under RM700 that is pump driven. This espresso is as good or better than anything you'll get in a cafe or our local kopitiam. Feel free to drop in my house for a cup of real Italian espresso. Purchasing an espresso machine makes me a proud owner and I just can't keep my hands and eyes away from it. Now, I don't just indulge in coffee but every minute every second I spend with my espresso maker. Watching the concentrated coffee fluid dripping from the portafilter gives me the pleasure of coffee making and I know that I am the happiest person on earth.

DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Machine

The DeLonghi EC155 is the most affordable pump-driven semi-automatic espresso machine that packs 15 bars of pump pressure, so getting a good extraction is so fuss free.

The espresso machine is housed in durable black and silver plastic.

The 35oz water reservoir is located on the back left side of the machine

The portafilter has an interesting little plastic knob that produces the backpressure, and presumably the emulsification opportunity for the crèma to develop. The whole thing twists apart for easy cleaning.

The tamping disk can grab onto a few grounds every time I tamp, making for a little collection of grounds on the tamp and under it on the counter.

The machine also features a steam wand with an attachment that makes steaming and frothing milk at ease.

Turn the knob and wait for the temperature ready light to illuminate.

The EC155 has a removable drip tray. Cleaning is so easy. Just remove and rinse with warm water.

This is the Sempre Crema Filter which I use to brew my favourite ground coffee beans.
