Dinner @ Xiang Zi Lou

Aunty Alice came from Penang to visit us. Being well known for her generosity, she brought along 5 packets of Heong Peng, 3 boxes of Tambun biscuits and 3 bottles of Ghee Hiang sesame oil, specially for us. We could not thank her more so we took her to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. Looking for a table on weekends is not an easy task as most restaurants were booked for weddings. We went from one restaurant to another, enquiring from one counter to another and lastly ended at Xiang Zi Lou Restaurant (looks more like a roadside stall) for some quality food taken in a lousy setting.

Shark Fin Soup

Braised beancurd, mushroom and roast pork.

Blanched yau mak topped with alabone slices.

Stir-fried vegetables

Steamed pork slices with ginger and chilli.

Father's Day Dinner @ Ipoh Garden East Ocean Restaurant

We celebrated Father's Day two weeks after its actual day as my siblings were busy with their work over the third weekend. Dad is a rather patient man so we presumed that he wouldn't mind getting a super-belated Father's Day dinner. Being let down many times by Kok Thai restaurant, we moved to East Ocean Restaurant hoping that this dinner would be another memorable one for Dad, if the food is above our expectation.

Weird table setting

Oh Menu... your name is purple...

Chivas Regal 18 Whisky
Unlike Chivas 12, Chivas 18 has a velvety, dark chocolate palate and a wisp of mellow smokiness. This whisky possesses an extremely warm long finish.

Hennessy X.O. can be served neat but I usually enjoy it "on the rocks".
This brandy gives a combination of structured, woody and spicy to the palate.

Mini Buddha Jumping over the Wall @ RM250

Five Treasure Platter @ RM98

Herbal chicken a.k.a. Fu Kwai Chicken @ RM48

Reunion Dinner 2011 again !!!

We had another reunion dinner on the third day of Chinese New Year, since everyone enjoyed the pot-luck style dinner we had on New Year Eve. Today's dinner, however, has become the most remarkable one because of the generosity of Kenny and Ann. He contributed the largest and heaviest abalone the whole family had ever eaten. Million thanks to both of them!
