Bangkok 2012: McDonald's Egg and Ham Pie

Can't recall when exactly was the first time I ate at McDonald's in Thailand. Well, it does not matter when as long as I know I became hooked on their food since then. The menu in Thailand is more extensive and the menu changes quite often to give rise to more surprises to their diners. Whenever I go to Thailand, my top priority is always on the Samurai pork burger. As you know, pork burger is not available in Malaysia nor Singapore so I strongly advise you not to miss the chance of trying this become it is simply so so so gooood... Their pies are also worth trying because of the variety of filling ranging from savoury to sweet flavours.

As you can see, the pastry is not too oily compared to the the apple pie in Malaysia outlets.

Scrambled eggs, ham and corn filling are encased in the crispy pastry but not as full as what I expected to get.

I have always wanted to try the Big M's prosperity burger which is available only during the Chinese New Year season. Not knowing when the promotion is going to end but I have been missing the boat for the past few years. I have to admit that I am a slow and sloppy person. Every time when I have made up my mind to try out something new, it always turns up to be disappointment.

"No more stock."

etc.

I can't find words to describe how disappointing it is to be missing something I have been longing for. It's time to compensate myself so I am now swearing to myself that I will never let myself down again when it comes to the food which I like. Better eat than sorry.

Singapore Discovery Vacation 2011: Wendy's Breakfast Panini

Similar to other fast food chains, Wendy's arrival in South East Asia brings more choices of food to us. Instead of using buns and English Muffins in their breakfast set, Wendy's opt for Italian focaccia which has a more chewy texture. With Wendy's, breakfast has become more interesting and we are no longer limited to choices of only hotcakes and English muffins.

The Thai are more generous, in the sense of the slice of perfectly-grilled meat which is comparatively larger than the bun.

From the translucent-looking bun, you can tell how fluffy it is.

Wrapping the burger in plastic sheet is another skill which our local McDonald's need to acquire. After all, nobody likes to eat a burger that is so tightly wrapped till the sauce and lettuce ooze out from everywhere resulting in an unappealing sight. Visually, that kills my appetite. 

This is what I am always hoping to see - a burger looking clean and neat when it is unwrapped.

A sinful breakfast for three unethical teachers

Dear Mr Principal,

Monday blues strikes again! Thanks for making us the chaperones to take a few students to the Town Hall for competitions. It was breakfast time when we arrived at the venue and the official directed us to the canteen for breakfast. We reluctantly accepted the kind offer of the official to 'enjoy' the wonderful breakfast prepared for all chaperones - Nasi Lemak bungkus!!! The packet of rice was so miserably tiny with countable number of ikan bilis. We wolfed down the rice within 10 seconds and tried with all our might to 'ask for more' but to no avail. We were ushered upstairs to a waiting room while the competition was going on. After the person-in-charge left the room, I beckoned my colleagues over to me and winked at them cunningly. The three hungry mice then sneaked out of the waiting room and in attempts to look for the nearest food stall for some PROPER meals. That's how we ended up eating a hearty breakfast at McDonald's, though we knew that it was unethical for us to leave our jobs behind for the sake of having breakfast...
