Breakfast Buffet @ Flemington Hotel

My SPM students who scored string of A's in the public examination invited me to Flemington Hotel to celebrate their success. Breakfast in Flemington is served buffet style and it costs only RM12.00 nett per pax. I, of course, need not pay a single cent as the bill was shared out among the 10 students. I did not want to waste their parents' hard-earned money, even though each of them only paid RM1.20 for my food. From section to section, I snatched everything I saw and gobbled down like nobody's business.

Cornflakes, Coco Crunch, and Honey Stars in milk

The Western Style Breakfast:
Butter Bread Pudding, Marmalade Toast, Mushroom Omelette, Chicken Sausage and Mini Spring Roll.

Teochew Porridge

The Malaysian Style Breakfast:
Chicken Rendang, Fried Kuey Teow, Prawn Sambal and Hard-boiled Egg.

Watermelon, Honey Dew, Papaya and Mango Pudding.

Butter Cake and Pandan Cake.

Guava Juice

Black Coffee

For breakfast alone, that's really a lot!

Singapore Discovery Vacation 2011: Kublai Khan Mongolian Barbecue @ Park Mall

This barbecue buffet restaurant is recommended by a colleague of mine who simply loves the grilled meat they serve. The name of the restaurant suggests that food is prepared in Mongolian style. As we all know, the Mongolians are very proud of their grilled lamb cuisine comprises of a wide array of dishes made of lamb. To name a few, lamb skewer, grilled whole lamb, lamb stew, grilled lamb rack etc. There was a high anticipation before we went to the restaurant but the saying is right: The more you anticipate, the more disappointment you get. There isn't any lamb dish served here. Only beef and chicken are available, plus a lousy selection of the buffet line. SGD26++ per person is actually quite reasonable when you forget about the conversion rate... :)

Hatyai 2011: Sky Buffet @ 33rd floor, Lee Gardens Hotel

The Sky Buffet at the 33rd floor of Lee Gardens Hotel is the most worth eating buffet in Hatyai. By paying as little as 169 baht (adults) or 119 baht (senior citizens and children), you get to savour the most scrumptious Thai cuisine while saving your time and energy hunting around for food as all genre of food is available in the Sky Buffet.

Wide array of food at Sky Buffet

This is something to die for - Fish maw soup. Scoop as much fish maw as you like from the pot of soup which is refilled every 5 minutes. Generously laden with fish maw and mushroom, the robust soup is too very flavourful and extremely addictive.

Seafood Tom Yum

 My act of greed!

Colourful assorted Thai desserts

This was only the first round... hehe

Lousy Breakfast Buffet @ Grand Continental Hotel

The recent school holiday was unusually boring and disappointing. There ain't any overseas trip, exciting discovery of good eating place, in spite of my short trip with the Prefectorial Board to Penang, another well-known place for some good local fare. Under the constraint of limited budget, we were arranged to stay at the Grand Continental Hotel in the downtown of Penang. There is nothing worth mentioning except their breakfast buffet which is so far the lousiest I'd had.

Cornflakes, Rice Krispies and Koko Krunch

Teochew porridge

Fried kuey teow

Sausages and omelette

Toast, hard boiled eggs, chicken curry, samosa and omelette.

Butter cake and chocolate cake

Fruits

Last but not least... coffee!!!

Swez Brasserie Italian Semi Buffet @ Eastin Penang

Between full buffet and semi buffet, the latter is much enjoyable for diners who do not wish to overeat as a result of the extensive choice of food. I totally agree with the above because I usually ended up eating more than what I needed, which ultimately led to unintentional weight gain. The concept of semi buffet enables diners to pick their choice of main course from the menu and help themselves with the oh-so-many appetisers and desserts displayed along the buffet line.

Appetisers:
Pineapple and prawns salad

Chicken and corn salad

Coleslaw

Smoked duck slices

Smoked ham with apple

Varieties of cheese served with bread and crackers

Assorted bread rolls

Salad corner

Shrimps

Mussels

Sushi

Sashimi

My choice of main course:
Roasted Spring Chicken

Desserts:
Assorted cream cakes

French pudding

Swiss Petit fours

Fruit Flan

Tiramisu

Chocolate gateau

More desserts...

Kuihs

Cut fruits

Baskin Robbins ice cream

The entire semi buffet costs only RM45++ per pax.
