Set Lunch @ Citrus Wine and Dine

Ever since the establishment of a few Euro Deli restaurants in Ipoh (Macoy, The Limestone, Berline Bier etc.), the local seems to have forgotten about Citrus Wine and Dine, the pioneer restaurant serving European fine dining cuisine in Ipoh. Still standing proud as one, Citrus never gives in to the fast food culture in spite of the strong competition around. What you get is quality food which is prepared with passion and patience, while upholding to its principle of serving only the best to the diners.

Citrus Wine and Dine - said to be the first fine dining concept restaurant in Ipoh.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ De Garden

I went to De Garden for lunch. Feeling like getting something hot and fresh, I walked into Pappa Rich and ordered 2 Mexican buns. The first waitress who attended to me told me that I need to wait for an hour. I therefore requested for the menu and tried to look for something else that required less preparation time. 2 minutes later, I saw the pastry cook brush some glacing on top of some bun-like stuff and push them into the oven. I was pretty sure that those were Mexican buns. I requested one of the waitresses to find out for me and indeed, those were Mexican buns. But she told me that I need to wait for 30 minutes. Again, I placed the same order for 2 Mexican buns. 3 minutes later, she came back to me and told me that I might have to wait even longer because the customers who came later than me had pre-booked all the buns! Does it make sense to you? Immediately I stood up and settled my bill without saying a word. the cup of coffee which I ordered was left untouched. That's how I ended up in Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.

A RM9.90 Set Lunch?

It's lunch time again and my stomach was growling. Chad invited me for lunch so I reached into my handbag trying to dig out whatever was left inside. After some great effort, I managed to gather RM12.50. Thinking of what to eat with the miserable amount of cash, Chad saw a leaflet on her table which reads: Starter + Main Course + Dessert + Coffee for RM9.90. What?! RM9.90 for a complete lunch set?

There is a selection of coffee, tea or iced lemon tea.

As for the starter, we are given a choice of Salad or Mushroom Soup with garlic toast.

There are four main courses: Black Pepper Chicken, Fish and Chips, Chicken with Potato Gravy and Texas style Fillet.

Chicken with Potato Gravy for Chad

Black pepper chicken chop for me.

Texas style fillet for Chow.

The dessert came with a scoop of ice-cream and a piece of chocolate cake.

The satisfying set lunch cost RM9.90 nett. It's so affordable thus we promised each other that we would come back for another round soon.
