Hong Kong Weng Wah Wife Cake

Immediately after my HK trip, the marking season began. With all hundreds of photographs inside the SD card, I couldn't figure out the way to sort them out as my attention is currently on the 333 copies of script given to me two days ago. Well, I can only show you a delicacy I brought back from Hong Kong - Lou Poh Peng.

Windsor Tea for One @ Annabelle's Place

My love for English Afternoon Tea has been made well-known over the years when I kept hunting high and low for the most excellent afternoon tea from one region to another. In Penang alone, I discovered many places which serve English afternoon tea but most of these places are usually a let down. For instance, E&O, The Suffolk House, David Brown, Winter Warmers etc. As we all know, the imitators out there cause the genuine experts who struggle hard to retain authenticity to be in a vulnerable position. Who will be the winner in the end? Only God knows the answer, considering the fact that people usually opt for more economical choice.  Poor thing...

So far, the best which I've tasted is Annabelle's Place in Tanjung Bungah. This is not my first visit to Annabelle's. In fact, I patronised her shop on a regular basis and I even took my kwai loh uncle there for some freshly baked scones. The lady owner could remember me so well that I normally received a personalised greeting from her whenever we met.

Windsor Tea for One @ RM22.00

The Windsor Tea set comes with a pot of tea of your choice (between Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Jasmine).
This is Earl Grey.

Cappuccino @ RM8.00

The entire tea set comprises one scone served with clotted cream and strawberry preserve (we paid RM3.00 for the extra scone), 2 types of sandwiches, a slice of cake, 2 slices of biscuits and cut fruits.

Care for a lovely English afternoon tea with me? You're invited, cordially...

Bake your own biscotti

The Italian word "biscotto" means "biscuit". When you break the word into two syllables, they are literally translated as "baking twice". Baking the biscuit twice requires lots of care and patience but it guarantees a crisp texture from its unique shape. The baking method is not too complicated as you think. All you need to do is to shape the dough into a log, bake the entire dough in the oven till the dough hardens but not cooked. Remove the dough from the oven and slice it diagonally. Arrange the biscuit slices neatly on a baking tray and return the biscuit to the oven to continue baking till it is completely cooked. Despite being time consuming and tedious, biscotti remains the most popular snack in some typical Italian cafes. Of course, one can always pay to enjoy some equally good bakery-made biscotti but the satisfaction one would get from making it yourself simply overweighs the store-bought biscotti. To bake or not to bake, that's the question.

The Pride of Tanzania

Starbucks Tanzania, a medium-bodied brew with a crisp, clean flavour and pleasing black currant and citrus notes. Grown in East Africa's fertile Rift Valley, the Tanzania bean has a distinctive flavour of both floral and citrus. The citrusy taste of this coffee gives rise to the fragrant aroma and pleasant after taste. Allow the fluid to coat the entire mouth cavity to unseal the sweetness of currant. This coffee provides a soothing sensation to your palate as you allow ample time for the fluid to flow gracefully down your throat.

Are you expecting me?

Thursday, commonly denoted as a non-tuition day, has lately been declared "Pam's Starbucks Day". Everyone is expecting me... Yes, everyone including the well-trained coffee barista, his gracious assistant, and all coffee enthusiasts who recognise their fellow comrades by the contentment in their eyes. If you happen to be one of them, please meet me here. We shall talk, over cups of nice brew, till we see our destiny fulfilled, with precious drops of coffee... See you at Starbucks, my friend.

Brekky No.5

I found a packet of Seafood flavoured dry noodles from 'Sao To' brand, HK.Without hesitation, I boiled a pot of water and chucked the noodles into the pot of boiling water. While waiting for the noodles to be cooked, I fried an egg in the pan.
After finishing my plate of noodles, my stomach was still growling. What should I eat just to satisfy the hunger pangs? A few slices of biscuits should be just nice to  fill the tummy without adding extra load to the body.

Hong Kong & Macau - Day 4 (Part 2: Loja Sopa Da Fita Cheong Kei)

The beautifully decorated Largo Do Senado

Town bus is the most convenient means of transportation in Macau

Old colonial buildings are found in every corner of Largo Do Senado

The well preserved heritage is given a nice coating of paint to distinguish it from one another

This street is commonly known as 'Sau Shun Kai' (gift street). Tourists flock in every day as this street is also an obligatory route toward the most well-known landmark in Macau - The Ruins of St. Paul.

The magnificent structure is seen at the far end.

Oops... too lazy to find out anything about the statues... (guess I need some help, if you could name it)

Finally...

I am speechless...

Poon Weng Kei makes the best egg crisp in Macau

The egg crisp contains a strong aroma of egg as only egg yolk is used in making the delicacy.

Surprise! I was told by the locals that the ice-cream vendor goes round the town to sell his ice-cream and you will never know his whereabouts so it is not easy to bump into him. I didn't take any pictures of the homemade ice-cream for I was being overexcited the moment I saw him.The vendor makes the ice-cream all by himself without the help of any electric beater. The result is a creamier and smoother texture with very little air bubbles in the ice-cream.

Another surprise! One terribly small scoop of ice-cream costs HKD15!!!

We had our lunch at Loja Sopa Da Fita Cheong Kei (Cheong Kei Noodle House).

You don't need anyone to tell you how good their noodles are.
There is always a long queue throughout the day.
