E.A.T. is defined as the ingestion of food to provide nutritional needs for growth and energy.
E.A.T. is an action of taking food into body to stay alive.
Apart from the above definitions, E.A.T. is also an abbreviation of English Afternoon Tea.
Be swept away by the classy, elegant interior of The 1885.
The most coveted seats in the restaurant are the two tables by the French windows,
overlooking the Straits of Malacca.
Simple yet elegant setting
Huge trays laden with dainty, bite-sized cakes and pastries
Cutlery made of silver
A feeling of true indulgence
My choice of tea: Creme Orange Roibosh Tea
Sugar bowl and milk jar made of fine bone china
Very fragrant tea with a hint of sweetness
Strawberry jam
Clotted cream
The entire tea experience costs RM45 ++
Treat yourself to a typical English Afternoon Tea served on silver and fine bone china.
My English Afternoon Tea begins with a set of plain and fruit scones,
delightful pastries and elegant finger sandwiches.
My savoury treats
Cocktail roll
Raisin scone and chicken pie
Plain butter scone
Spread your scone with imported strawberry jam and clotted cream
Three types of sandwiches
Smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich
Cucumber and dill sandwich
Cheese sandwich (A substitute for beef and dill sandwich as I don't eat beef)
Assorted cakes and sweets
Chocolate meringue tart
Chocolate-coated strawberry meringue delight
This is the best afternoon tea I've ever had in Malaysia. The delightful and dainty-looking pastries are all made to perfection. The entire tea experience left me with a feeling of true indulgence and I will surely return for another luxurious treat. It is an experience I am not likely to forget.
wow..Mingna, u drove all the way to Penang for the EAT? Thanks for teaching me a new word today..English Afternoon Tea! I have been to the E&O once.. but not to eat, just to tour around the lobby.. hahhaaa...
ReplyDeleteoh by the way.. the Choy Kee, I will try to look for it.. not so sure of Bercham.. but u seem to know about their history.. :p
ReplyDeleteClaire:
ReplyDeleteThe E.A.T at The 1885 is worth paying for. I swear this is the best I've ever had, even better than The Smoke House's.
As for Choy Kee, I'm their regular customer. I just need to make a phone call and they will reserve the freshest tarts for me. Regarding the history... Sigh... the present lady boss has gone from a mistress to a new wife of the owner.
I have had it once and I remember till now. :)
